The soldier killed in a helicopter crash Friday near Kabul, Afghanistan, was identified Sunday by the Defense Department. He was born in Oklahoma and was now living in Alaska. Sims, 36, was assigned to the 4 Battalion, 160 Special Operations Aviation Regiment, Joint Base Lewis-McChord, Washington. Sim was awarded the Air Medal (with combat device) for his heroism or meritorious achievement in aerial battle, NBC News reported .
