Chelsea FC are keen on signing Anthony Martial from Manchester United if Eden Hazard leaves the club this summer, according to reports in the British media.

Manchester United are set to line up a swap deal for Anthony Martial with Spanish giants Real Madrid.

The Portuguese has, though, said he will use Martial on the opening day of the season as Lukaku, Rashford and Lingard will return to training late following their World Cup exploits.

In 45 appearances, the France worldwide has contributed to 21 goals and assists in a rather fruitful 2017/18 campaign for the Red Devils.

Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho applauds after the match against Derby County.

After he struggled to impress despite playing the whole 90 minutes of a goalless draw with San Jose Earthquakes in Santa Clara, Mourinho told the player that he can not expect to simply walk away. Everyone will have his opinion, I think he must take back control of his career.

The French winger has struggled for regular playing time under Jose Mourinho over the past two seasons, leaving him to recently be linked with Chelsea and Juventus.

Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho says he hopes World Cup victor Paul Pogba "understands why he was very good" during the tournament.

"I would like to play against Leicester [opening game of 2018/19 season] on Sunday but I have to play on Friday, so you don't get always in life what you want".

But the former Monaco wonderkid failed to impress.

Valencia missed eight games for United last term due to injury, and Mourinho expects more of the same in the 2018/19 campaign after his latest problem.

Missing star talents Paul Pogba and Alexis Sanchez, the opening match of a pre-season USA tour looked like it might end in defeat for the Reds in Arizona until Juan Mata volleyed to equalise in the 78th minute. Sources have told ESPN FC Jose Mourinho does not want to keep a player who does not want to be at the club but executive vice-chairman Woodward is reluctant to sell.
