International House of...burgers?

The restaurant chain, famous for its breakfast offerings, playfully riled up its fans online last week by promising to change its name from IHOP to IHOb.

Internet speculation had the "B" representing everything from breakfast, brunch, bananas, bacon, beer, booze and even bitcoin.

"What an epic failure", wrote another of the new name, which replaces the original International House of Pancakes.

In case you haven't heard, IHOP has officially changed their name (and EVERYTHING ABOUT THEMSELVES) to IHOB.

But now iHOb will serve black angus beef burgers. "B-hold!" the restaurant tweeted on Monday morning.

The former leader in much needed hangover food has chose to enter into the burger joint business. When asked if IHOP was considering food-fusion menu items - remember Burger King's Whopperito or Taco Bell's Nacho Fries?

But Wendy's didn't buy it, and trolled the pancake-turned-burger house. "But we want to convey that we are taking our burgers as seriously as our pancakes".

Others called the name change "bizarre" and "a nightmare".

It's worth noting that the company's website still lives at IHOP.com.

Until now, IHOP featured just three traditional burgers on its menu.

A banner on the restaurant chain's Twitter page shows the word "Burgers!" with a photo of seven hamburgers underneath.
