The good news? The Fox series has been renewed for a third season.

The news comes days after Crawford was sacked from the Fox drama following bad behavior on set.

Lethal Weapon, the highest rated of Fox's Warner Bros TV drama series, went from being a sure thing for renewal to being in limbo because of all the problems with Crawford behind the scenes. 'Lethal Weapon is packed with action, drama and pure fun and we can't wait to see Damon and Seann together on screen.

Fox on Sunday renewed Lethal Weapon for a third season, with Seann William Scott (American Pie) filling the void created by Crawford's dismissal and joining the drama in a new role opposite Damon Wayans. Matthew Miller is the creator and showrunner, with Warner Bros.

After Scott was announced as his replacement, Crawford shared a message of congratulations to the cast and crew of Lethal Weapon on Instagram, adding, "Riggs was a dream role and the experience will live with me forever". He concluded by issuing an apology to "all the crew and cast for any negative attention Lethal Weapon is receiving because of these incidents". The actor recently apologized for two incidents for which he was reprimanded during the sophomore season.

Lethal Weapon was something of a bubble show for a renewal, averaging a 1.7 rating and a multi-platform audience of 8.6 million, but the series does well internationally.

Crawford also seemed to have the support of many of his fellow cast members.

Besides "American Pie", Scott's credits include "Road Trip", "Role Models", "The Dukes of Hazzard", "The Rundown" and "Dude, Where's My Car?".

Crawford praised all of his collaborators and insisted he would never intentionally jeopardize other people's jobs by causing the network to consider canceling the show.

Clayne Crawford has been replaced in the TV series Lethal Weapon. Word broke last week that Crawford had officially been fired. As of just a few days ago, Crawford's Instagram posts also revealed he hadn't heard anything from the network and expressed hope he wasn't being fired.
