In the past, special standalone editions of the franchise were produced specifically for the tournament, such as 2014 FIFA World Cup Brazil. Full details about FIFA World Cup Ultimate Team and the other new game modes can be found here.

On top of the offline FIFA World Cup Kick-Off and FIFA World Cup Tournament modes, there will be a revised FIFA World Cup Ultimate Team mode. The PS4, Xbox One, and PC versions will also receive the official "2018 FIFA World Cup Russia graphic and broadcast package", which adds cinematic flair, and various cut scenes to bring the tournament to life.

The big news all FUT fans have been waiting for: every standard or premium pack purchased in World Cup Ultimate Team gives you a free pack of identical value for standard Ultimate Team.

Also being added to the mode are "some of the most iconic players from the tournament's history", although they haven't said which ones yet.

"FIFA World Cup Ultimate Team lets you build your dream global squad", EA Sports' statement read. Whether you want to build your dream worldwide squad or play through the tournament with your favourite country, Federation Internationale de Football Association 18 World Cup is the flawless way for every gamer to play the World's Game. That's good news for Italy and the United States of America, but means no place any more for minnows such as Vanuatu and the Cook Islands. In addition to that, official teams, players, kits, presentation elements and authentic stadium atmospheres will be available, as EA indicated.

It's free, as long as you own 'FIFA 18.' Owners of the game will be able to download the update for free.

FIFA 18 is set to receive FIFA World Cup 2018 Russian Federation content as a free update on May 29th, 2018.
