Microsoft And Discord Team Up To Create One Network For Gamers!

Gamers all over the world use and love Discord to easily chat and connect with friends while they game.

So, if you're on Discord and want to be able to talk to your friends while playing on your Xbox One, you'll be able to do that hopefully in a few weeks. Hopefully, the collaboration between Xbox and Discord will open up the chance for more applications to operate on a cross-platform level. On an Xbox One, you go into the settings to link a new social account. Xbox Live parties and Discord chat aren't compatible in any way.

Likewise, Discord users on PC and in the mobile apps will see an option "in the coming weeks" to link with their Xbox accounts. The inception of Microsoft's Cross-Play feature, which brings Xbox One and PC users together, is one such successful example. You can link your Xbox Live account to your Discord profile, and you will be able to link your Discord account to your Xbox Live profile-but it doesn't sound like gamers will be able to communicate across either platform quite yet. It remains to be seen, however, if you'll be able to utilize Discord's chat functions going forward with these new linking tools, but that would make a lot of sense, more than simply having the ability to link together your usernames. After enabling permission, your accounts will be linked. Once the accounts are linked, players can let their friends see what they're playing even if the friends' Xbox devices aren't on at the time.

"We're excited about working with Discord and are thrilled to enable new ways for gamers to connect with one another online", developers shared within the announcement.
