Today, Saber Interactive announced that they will be continuing the franchise this year with NBA Playgrounds 2. It's a worldwide online league with several divisions where you can climb the ladder to the top. Also, throw the NBA Jam announcer guy some cash - the stand-in Playgrounds used just wasn't up to snuff.
This sequel, which will release on all the same platforms as the original, is poised to improve on the formula established in the first game with a couple new features.
Like last time, NBA Playgrounds 2 will include more than 200 current and retired NBA players, including Steph Curry, Kevin Durant, James Harden, Kyrie Irving, LeBron James, Russell Westbrook, Giannis "The Greek Freak" Antetokounmpo, Anthony Davis, DeMar DeRozan, Damian Lillard, Karl-Anthony Towns, Shaquille O'Neal, Magic Johnson, "Dr. J". We know lag was a problem in the first game for some and this should address the concern. Playgrounds 2 also features a new single-player Season mode that has players balling through a regular season, playoff, and NBA Championship.More news: Brandon Marshall to Dez Bryant: 'Sorry baby bro no room' on Giants

There's no official release date for NBA Playgrounds 2 yet, but it will be out later this Summer for PC, PS4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch. The game will feature over 200 current and former National Basketball Association players, with some of the biggest names in the sport. New animations and facial animations have been added.
As seen in the trailer above, there are new moves and power-ups for players to utilize in NBA Playgrounds 2's street battles. New gameplay mechanics like double alley-oops bring even more high-flying action.
