The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) arrested a 1988 batch Indian Revenue Service (IRS) officer Shwetabh Suman, serving as income tax Commissioner, while taking Rs 40 lakh bribe in Assam.

The medical test of the 17-year-old girl from Uttar Pradesh's Unnao who has accused local BJP legislator Kuldeep Singh Sengar of rape, was conducted at a hospital here on Saturday, an official said.

On Monday the CBI sleuths brought the victim and her mother from Unnao and later she recorded a fresh statement before the magistrate under section 164 of the CrPC.

Meanwhile, the CBI continued its interrogation on Saturday, after it took the accused into custody on Friday morning.

A police source said Kuldeep was about to leave for Varanasi to pray at the Kashi Vishwanath temple when a seven-member CBI team arrived at his residence and asked him to accompany them to the agency office.

After a massive public outrage over the inaction of the UP police, the case was handed over to the CBI on April 12.

Neglecting the set guidelines for handling such offences, Unnao cops took no pains to collect samples from girl's private parts or clothes she was wearing during the incident to be forwarded to forensic laboratory for DNA or biological examination to corroborate her claims.

Three FIRs have been filed by the UP Police in the case which were later transferred to the CBI.

The third case is related to the alleged attack on the teenager's father on April 3 by the MLA's brother, who was charged him with voluntarily causing hurt after a brawl. The father died on April 9 during treatment while in judicial custody. Since the murder charge was added later by the state police, it does not reflect in the CBI FIR.

Almost a year ago, on June 4, 2017, the victim - a minor at the time - visited the MLA's residence with a relative seeking a job, where she was allegedly raped by Sengar and others.
