Moment of silence held to honour Humboldt Broncos as SJHL playoffs resume

Sixteen of us have been killed after the bus carrying the Humboldt Broncos junior hockey crew to a playoff sport collided with a semi-trailer on a freeway in Saskatchewan.

"And for that to have happened and to have ended in such a tragic way is heartbreaking for all of their families who only wanted their kids to be part of the great things that hockey brings to us - camaraderie and responsibility and skills and leadership and all of those wonderful things".

Tom Straschnitzki, whose son Ryan Straschnitzki was badly injured in the crash, says he was in a waiting area at Royal University Hospital in Saskatoon on Friday night when a large box was wheeled in.

"There's no closure yet but it's been a really emotional time for everybody, some more than others, some because they've had personal connections, others just because they don't know how to handle", Lewgood said after Saturday's game.
