One of the company's facilities located in Hyde County, North Carolina is responsible for producing eggs that get distributed to stores and restaurants in Colorado, Florida, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Virginia, West Virginia, North and SC.
"FDA analysis of the samples revealed that the same strain of Salmonella Braenderup that caused the illnesses was present at the Hyde County Egg facility, tying the facility to the illnesses".

This recall is the largest since 2010 when a salmonella outbreak was linked to an Iowa egg farm that infected more than 1,500 people. In rare situations, Salmonella Braenderup infections can cause the organism to enter the bloodstream and produce severe illnesses, such as arterial infections, endocarditis and arthritis.
