Man Utd boss Mourinho blasts de Boer over Rashford remarks

Eric Bailly's weird own goal gave Liverpool hope in the second half, but United held on for a first victory over their North West rivals since January, 2016.

Jurgen Klopp's touchline antics at Old Trafford on Saturday have received the unexpected support of Manchester United counterpart Jose Mourinho.

Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford does not need verbal assurance from his manager about his importance to the team and said he is not anxious despite limited time on the pitch in the current Premier League campaign.

"They try to win matches in an honest way, by outpassing and outscoring opponents and what we saw yesterday was a team winning via an alternative route".

But you may believe that the late surge of energy from Liverpool to salvage a draw was enough to earn the team some kind of consolation prize.

And Klopp has told his Liverpool FC players that they must look to respond as quickly as possible after the disappointment of their defeat by Manchester United at the weekend. If so, you've got a friend in the manager.

"If you win the title next year then everyone will know it was a good signing". We would have more points and it would change my life massively.

"It is all about the result and we lost". If we really want to get there and take three points, I don't have to talk about the table.

Klopp also spoke about not wanting to risk Clyne since he hasn't played a senior game all season. I think I responded quite well even with some different things around my life - burglars and things like that - so it wasn't easy for me, especially in October. If we win, only one ahead, it's not a big difference.

"He was upset with a player and the same happened to me against Crystal Palace [last Monday] where I was upset with my player and therefore they [the officials] understood that too".
