Forsyth keeps top spot as Georgia's healthiest county; Gwinnett ranks No. 5

The University of Wisconsin Population Health Institute and the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation have been collaborating on this report for years, this being the ninth report released.

In addition to several social and economic factors area, Livingston County has strengths in the health outcome areas such as quality of life and length of life.

Allen County ranks 47th in health outcomes, which measures how long people live and how healthy people feel while alive.

Of the counties surrounding Philadelphia, Chester ranks first in health outcomes, Montgomery is ranked fourth, Bucks is ranked seventh and DE is ranked 49th. Orange County was ranked 15, and Leon County came in at 16.

The county performed best in clinical care, ranking 29th, with improvements in the uninsured, and the number of dentists and mental health providers.

Forsyth County health director Marlon Hunter said "many of the health challenges are generational".

"We are now implementing a project with the Mississippi Department of Medicaid to prevent preterm births, many of which are low birth weight or to teens", she said. The adult smoking rate and teen births were lower and access to exercise opportunities was higher, but obesity, physical inactivity, excessive drinking and food environment were the same.

The assessment is divided into two fields: health outcomes and health factors.

The worst ranked county was Robeson, coming in at 100.

Doctors in the USA earn twice the average salary than their peers in 10 other high-income countries. County health departments, parent-teacher organizations, hospitals, health care providers and nonprofits are just some of the groups that can benefit from data and resources.

The rankings also show Boone County has the lowest percentage of adults over the age of 20 in the state reporting no leisure physical activity.

David Plyler, the chairman of the Forsyth County Board of Commissioners, said the county could remain at its current ranking in the short term because "instant success is not always prevalent". This can be a significant indicator of future health status. Black respondents, however, indicated answers most similar to those living in the least healthy quartile of counties.
