YouTube's 'Dark Mode' feature arrives on iOS devices

The company added the feature to the desktop version of YouTube previous year and has been met with much demand from consumers to implement the same feature in the mobile apps. Apple's iOS will be the first to get Dark Mode as YouTube starts pushing it out today.

Google is rolling out its dark theme update to iOS users today, and plans to release the update to Android users "soon".

It looks like Google is in the process of rolling out a new update for the YouTube app, which will add a new dark mode, similar to the one that's been released on desktop past year.

According to Google, a dark mode was one of the most requested features for its mobile apps. Lo and behold, YouTube for Android and iOS is finally gaining the elusive dark mode, reports The Verge. But even with new evidence that the whole app was going dark, it was clear that significant work remained, with some screens stuck in a halfway state: white text, but also a white background.

Having a dark theme has its advantages.

For those who like to watch YouTube in bed at night, this Dark theme will help keep brightness to a minimum, especially if you have a partner who is sensitive to light at night.
