Along with the west coast themed model, other versions of the Mustang are gaining some additional features in the new model year as well. Inspired by the original 1968 Ford Mustang GT/CS, which itself borrowed cues from a 1968 Shelby GT500 prototype nicknamed "Little Red", the new, 2019 Mustang GT California Special is loaded with unique aesthetic touches that help it to stand out from the crowd.
Today, the 2019 California Special for Mustang GT is a visual standout, featuring a trademark fading stripe that traces from the 5.0 side badge to the rear fender scoop. At the front, the auto follows the blacked-out open grille and picks up the Mustang Performance Pack 1 splitter. All 2019 Mustang GTs with manual transmissions will have a rev-matching function for smooth downshifts that don't require you to do your own heel-and-toe work.
Hey everybody, the Mustang California Special is back after taking a year off, and this time the GT version gets automatic rev-matching! Inside, it comes with synthetic suede-trimmed seats, special logos, contrasting red stitching and a script badge on the passenger-side dash.More news: Amazon Just Made it Easier to Bark Follow-Up Commands at Alexa

The Mustang California Special has been a part of the Mustang repertoire off and on since 1968. "This signature design takes its cues from the original California Special, while enhancing the personality of today's Mustang".
Ford on Monday also announced some general updates for the 2019 Mustang range. Buyers will have the choice to add a new 1,000 watt, 12-speaker B&O system to the Mustang. Though it's not available on the Mustang EcoBoost, the EcoBoost with the Performance Pack will now have an available active exhaust that can be quiet or loud depending on your mood or surroundings.
The 2019 Mustang goes on sale this summer.
