Two V-8 engines return to satisfy traditional truck buyers looking for a V-8 rumble. In addition to its aluminum diet, Ford has committed to a turbocharged V-6 strategy to save fuel while increasing torque.
"Our competition has downsized and boosted their engines", said Herrick. Chevrolet managers say the passenger volume has increased, and so has the cargo volume in the bed of the truck.

The Silverado is the second-best selling vehicle in the USA and is outsold only by Ford's F-Series pickups.
The Silverado features the first opening and closing power tailgate.
The one thing the pickup adversaries share is a 10-speed transmission, co-developed by GM and Ford for rear-wheel drive platforms.
Under the hood the 2019 Silverado will be available with six engine/ transmission combinations, which includes new 5.3L and 6.2L V8 engines.
The truck will undergo 7 million miles of testing before production begins at the Fort Wayne Assembly Plant.
