"As evening fell, the Russia air defense forces detected 13 unidentified small-size air targets at a significant distance approaching the Russian military bases", said the Ministry of Defence of the Russian Federation. Earlier, the Russian Defense Ministry said that the technology used in those drones could only be obtained from a technologically advanced country.
"When the terrorists arrived at the facility where they were to board a minibus, the whole subversive group was eliminated by the Krasnopol high-precision munition", the ministry said.
While declining to characterize the phone call, McKenzie stressed that "the US had nothing to do with the attacks on the Russian air base and that's a flat assertion, and I want to be very clear on that". Moscow claimed to have successfully repelled the attack.
The Krasnopol projectile was also used to destroy a group of militants in the same province.
Russian military sites in Syria were targeted in two major attacks in the past two weeks, one on New Year's Eve and another on January 6.More news: Google Assistant coming to Smart displays from Lenovo, LG, Sony & JBL

They were also capable of launching precision strikes and could not have been made without foreign assistance, the ministry said. In November, Russia released a video supposedly showing United States troops helping ISIS fighters, but in fact was a video game. He added that Russian Federation knows who was or were behind the provocative attacks, however, didn't disclose the names but to add that it wasn't Turkey.
Karataş explained that such attacks are created to increase the probability of hitting a target even if a certain number of drones are taken down.
"Basic swarming with drones now is so easy that any kid with an internet connection can figure out how to do it", Velicovich said. The Daily Beast even speculated that the UAVs, or at least parts of them, were bought via social media.
