OnePlus fans have another reason to rejoice as the company is gearing up for the launch of its next flagship smartphone OnePlus 6. Today, through an interview with CNET, OnePlus CEO Pete Lau confirmed that the company's next flagship smartphone would be powered by Snapdragon 845 and it will be debuting late in the second quarter of this year. Currently, the OnePlus 5T has the fingerprint scanner placed at the back, due to its 18:9 display on the front. The smartphone is powered by octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor and is available in two storage variants 64GB and 128GB.

While several smartphone players are banging hard on AI, OnePlus isn't going to jump on the bandwagon anytime soon. The OnePlus 6 might include this tech when it releases. If that deal comes through, OnePlus will become first Chinese company to strike a deal with a carrier in the United States, as close to 90 percent of the mobile phones are sold via contracts in the country.

While OnePlus has done well so far, there have been certain things that were missing from the OnePlus 5 and 5T as well.

Will the U.S. government's goodwill extend to OnePlus? Recently Vivo, which is owned by BBK Electronics, who also own OnePlus, has developed an in-display fingerprint sensor.

While the recent OnePlus phones have seen spectacular success, they've lacked a basic feature - water-resistance.

The announcement comes at a time when OnePlus' current flagship OnePlus 5T is selling like hot cakes.

Since the launch of OnePlus 3T, the company has been coming up with mid-year updates to its flagship devices. Most importantly, the company may follow the price bracket similar to Samsung's Galaxy Note 8 and Apple's iPhone X and price the OnePlus 6 as high as $1000.

The OnePlus 6 too is expected to come with some top of the line features at a reasonable price which is expected to be somewhere around Rs. 40,000/- in India.
