It's been a busy week of updates regarding Lucas Moura's possible January move from PSG and Manchester United.

The 25-year-old has 18 months remaining on his contract in Paris, with his current employers thought to be ready to accept a bid of close to €40 million for the player they paid around €50m for in the summer of 2012.

Capable of playing on either side of the pitch, Moura will also bring versatility, pace, and dynamism to the Manchester United attack.

The story first appeared in Italian daily Gazzetta dello Sport, before it was amplified on social media via a Canal Plus reporter.

In the latest twist to the Lucas Moura transfer saga which appears to have come out of nowhere this January, the winger's former club Sao Paulo have reportedly failed in their attempts to sign the Paris player.

Moura has played just 71 minutes in the league for PSG and, so drastically has his stock fallen, he is not even cup-tied for the Champions League.

Lucas has scored 45 goals in 228 appearances for PSG.

The Brazilian worldwide has been strongly linked with a move to Manchester United with the Mirror reporting earlier this week that Moura had agreed to join the Red Devils this month. Today, Liverpool are linked with Lucas Moura...

But there's a problem: the transfer fee. With a deal which is relatively uncomplicated, one wonders why there is such continued smoke without any fire, and this seems to back up the theory suggested by Jamie Jackson of the Guardian, who said as he understood it United had no interest in pursuing the player.

'I need to concentrate on improving at PSG.

So will PSG lower their demands?
