The InstruMMents company will unveil a new smart lamp called Olie that responds to commands through the Google Assistant or Amazon's Alexa.

The show was a spinoff of the Chicago Music Show, which until then had been the largest exhibition of consumer electronics in the world.

Over the course of the four-day show, televisions, home appliances and autonomous vehicle technology are also expected to be prominent trends.

Here at Gizmodo, we've been keeping track of everything we can, and while we might not be able to pinpoint every single rising star before the show starts, we've got more than enough info to highlight a number of major trends that are going to define this year's CES.

At last year's CES, Amazon dominated the news cycle with numerous announcements by companies that were adding Alexa technology to their gadgets.

Another tech firm incorporating artificial intelligence is HiRide, which will introduce a mountain bike suspension system capable of interpreting road conditions for the objective of providing a smoother ride. "A preliminary assessment indicates that condensation from heavy rainfall caused a flashover on one of the facility's transformers", the Verge quotes the Consumer Technology Association by way of an explanation.

CES will run from January 9th to 12th in Las Vegas.

We can expect to see more products and solutions to safeguard these smart devices from hacking.

Past year one of the big headlines was how the Internet of Things brought everything together with the explosive growth of the connected home. I'm talking about everything from smart tupperware to robotic sun shades, and more.

"What we're seeing at CES is some categories we didn't have previous year". Lyft's co-founder and president, John Zimmer, will speak at the annual Leaders in Technology dinner Thursday night, a high-profile show event where he's likely to tout the ride-hailing company's autonomous efforts. One category to watch is mobile service robots, which can handle deliveries and other simple tasks. "The most popular exhibits, however, are from our companies like Samsung Electronics and LG Electronics that display the most advanced technologies". That's OK. One of the most enjoyable parts of the show is finding goofy and odd hardware.

"Good morning! 45 years ago today, Bruce Springsteen released his first album, 'Greetings from Asbury Park, NJ'".
