Hear Two New Jack White Songs, 'Connected by Love' and 'Respect Commander'

Jack White has shared two new songs - "Connected By Love" and "Respect Commander".

As with most White singles, there is a b-side. "Connected by Love" and "Respect Commander" are both off his upcoming third solo record, Boarding House Reach, and both have an evident storytelling tone that mimics what he told Rolling Stone about putting himself into the mindset of a character. But what sets "Connected By Love" apart is its earnest in sentiment and overblown arrangements.

Check out the songs and video below. White added vocals, synthesizer and acoustic guitar to "Connected By Love", which also includes drummer Louis Cato, bassist Charlotte Kemp Muhl (The Ghost of a Saber Tooth Tiger), synthesizer player DJ Harrison, keyboardist Neal Evans (Soulive, Talib Kweli, John Scofield), percussionist Bobby Allende (David Byrne) and The McCrary Sisters vocalists Ann McCrary and Regina McCrary. Everything is purposeful, everything is connected by a sonic vision, and a flawless blend of old guitar blues that is simultaneously on the edge of rock's horizon.

White has also announced three United States festival headline performances: Shaky Knees in Atlanta (May 4-6), Boston Calling 2018 (May 25-27), and Governor's Ball in New York (June 1-3).

White's last solo record was Lazaretto, released in 2014.

The accompanying video for the track, directed by Pasqual Gutierrez and recorded in Los Angeles and Nashville, takes place in a world where a mysterious, gigantic, moon-like object is slowly crashing into Earth and follows the lives of various people dealing with the impending doom while living their daily lives.
