BSNL jumps into data and validity revision game, update its prepaid plans

Vodafone has updated its two plans to take on Jio and Airtel.

Those who happen to use excessive internet data can buy a plan for anywhere between Rs 300 to Rs 350 a month, or 28 days to be precise. With the new Rs. 399 pack, Airtel is now offering 1GB data per day, unlimited voice calls - local, STD, and roaming, 100 SMSs per day for all handset users.

1GB Data Plans of Jio - The 349 prepaid plan of Jio now offers 70GB data with unlimited calls including all calls and the validity of this plan of Jio is now 70 days. Just as the Airtel's plan, Jio's plan is valid for 28 days. The plan offers 42GB data for 28 days. Another pack that is priced at a similar rate of Rs. 399 provides the users 1GB data daily with unlimited calls and 100 SMS and has an extended validity period of 56 days. A day later, it started offering 70-day validity at Rs. 399. This is also the Happy New Year 2018 plan of Jio. In all other circles, buyers will get 84-day and 91-day validity with the Rs. 458 and Rs. 509 prepaid packs.

Airtel had newly launched a new prepaid pack of Rs. 199 that gives 1GB data daily for 28 days. In the same way, a recharge of Rs 666 will give 1.5GB per day data with a validity of 129 days. Also, there are several other prepaid packs of Reliance Jio, Airtel, Idea, and Vodafone operators, which offer 2GB daily to users. This means users will get a total of 91GB data for 91 days. Vodafone's Rs 509 will compete against Airtel's Rs 509 and Jio's Rs 498 plans. Further, Jio also offers unlimited voice calls on all networks in India, 100 SMSs daily, and free subscription to Jio apps.

Newcomer Jio continued to steadily climb in terms of market share, taking it to 13.08%, up from 12.39% in October, 11.72% in September and 11.19% in August, as per data released by the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (Trai) Thursday.
