John Mayer is recovering, but more Dead & Company shows postponed

The bad news is that a close call prompted guitarist John Mayer to undergo an emergency appendectomy yesterday. Information on the rescheduled date will be announced as soon as possible. This band and these shows mean the world to me.

The ailment was apparently unexpected, as 11 hours before Dead & Company posted their statement, Mayer was tweeting about, of all things, copyediting. With a 1-3 week recovery period, Dead & Company are forced to postpone the remaining two shows of 2017, which were scheduled for Amway Center in Orlando, FL on December 7 and the BB&T Center in Sunrise, FL on December 8. Grateful Dead members Bob Weir, Mickey Hart and Bill Kreutzmann along with Mayer, Oteil Burbridge and Jeff Chimenti then played a second night at MSG before bringing the run to Philadelphia, Boston, Washington D.C., Hartford, Detroit, Columbus, Charlotte, Atlanta, Dallas and Austin.

"Early this morning, Tuesday, December 5th, John Mayer was admitted into the hospital for emergency appendectomy forcing the Dead & Company December 5th concert in New Orleans to be postponed", said a tweet from the band's Twitter account.
