Bharti Airtel, Intex tie up for new smartphones

Starting with Intex Aqua Lions, its actual price is Rs 3,799.

Under the offer, Airtel subscribers will have to recharge their phone of not less than Rs 3,000 in the first 18 months of buying the phone to receive the cashback of Rs 500. People willget a refund of Rs 500 after 18 months, and another Rs 1000 after completion of 36 months. The Intex Aqua Lions N1 comes with a 4-inch full touch WVGA screen and supports dual SIM 4G support - which sounds much better in comparison to JioPhone which comes with a single SIM support and you can use only Jio SIM - basically JioPhone is locked to Jio SIM only and you can't use any other network SIM card on the phone.

During the launch, Ajai Puri, Chief Operating Officer (India and South Asia), Bharti Airtel said, "We are really pleased to see the continued positive response to our "Mera Pehla Smartphone" initiative from customers as well as smartphone manufacturers".

The Intex Aqua Lions N1 from Airtel is available at a down payment of Rs 3,149, while the Aqua A4 and Aqua S3 will be available for an upfront payment of Rs 3,499 and Rs 5,874 respectively. The smartphone has 8GB built-in storage, expandable up to 128GB via a microSD card. As far as the cameras are concerned, the Intex Aqua Lions N1 packs a 2-megapixel primary camera on the rear and a 0.3-megapixel front shooter for selfies.

Airtel notes that the Aqua Lions N1 is actually available at a price tag of Rs 3,799 - this is the market price of the phone. Airtel offers Rs 1500 cashback to its prepaid customers who purchase these handsets. It is powered by a quad-core MediaTek processor clocked at 1.1 GHz coupled with 1 GB RAM.

Interestingly, Airtel bundles a cashback scheme on these smartphones similar to Vodafone-Micromax partnership.

On the other hand Aqua S3 has a market price of Rs 6649/-, and features 5- inch display, 1.3GHz quad- processor, 2GB RAM, 16GB internal storage (expandable up to 64GB), 8MP rear and 5MP front camera, and 2,450 mAh battery. "We look forward to working with them towards empowering every Indian with a 4G smartphone".

In case the customer does not wish to opt for the Rs 169 plan, they can recharge as per their requirements. Users can access all apps on Google Play Store, including YouTube, Facebook and WhatsApp on the devices. Airtel has launched the new devices under its "Mera Pehla Smartphone" initiative.

Airtel now offers total seven 4G smartphones under this initiative. The smartphones come pre-loaded with MyAirtel App, Airtel TV and Wynk Music.

The stock hit an intraday high of Rs. 492.6 and intraday low of 479.95.
