Curtis Samuel's rookie season is over after 9 games.
Samuel had a chance to catch a Cam Newton pass in the end zone early in the third quarter Monday night, and Dolphins safety Reshad Jones rolled over Samuel's ankle as he was diving for the interception.
"There were a lot of good things", offensive coordinator Mike Shula said Tuesday of Samuel's game, according to the Panthers' official website.
The second-round pick out of Ohio State was just coming into his own after spending most of training camp and a portion of the first month of the season dealing with a hamstring injury and later an injury to the right ankle.More news: Tennessee State football player sucker punches coach

Samuel's improvement was one of the factors for why the Panthers traded wideout Kelvin Benjamin to the Buffalo Bills prior to the trading deadline.
"It's probably going to be by committee", Shula added. Samuel had five receptions for 45 yards against Miami. "There's some guys on the team that would say yeah", Shula said. Wide receiver Damiere Byrd is eligible to return December 3 from injured reserve.
The Panthers are on bye next week before visiting the New York Jets, in what is expected to be the return of veteran tight end Greg Olsen. "Every play we've got guys going in and out, and we hardly missed a beat as far as guys going to different positions from one play to another". Olsen has been on injured reserve with a foot injury, but is eligible to return and play against the Jets on November 26.
