The Vienna store is one of three West Virginia stores slated for closure, the others being in Martinsburg and Beckley.

The store closure is apart of 180 Sears and Kmart locations that have already closed during 2017, according to CNN.

In a statement, the company said, "Sears Holdings continues its strategic assessment of the productivity of our Kmart and Sears store base and will continue to right size our store footprint in number and size".

Sears is closing its stores in the Northwest Arkansas Mall and Fort Smith's Central Mall.

Store employees were notified of the closing today.

Further details about the local Kmart store closing were not available Thursday afternoon.

Sears Holdings has been shuttering Kmart and Sears stores nationwide for several years as it struggles to keep pace with competitors like Walmart. None of the 18 Sears stores closing are located in IL.

The statement continued, "It's important to note that these stores will remain open to serve members during the holiday season".

According to Sears, liquidations sales for those stores will begin as early as November 9.
